Overview - Digital Signage for iOS

As an alternative to expensive and feature-overloaded digital signage softwares, we have developed a simple, straight-forward and inexpensive Digital Signage application running on iOS platform. The application includes playlist editor and player which creates and displays playlist with selected layout, plus an optional text ticker with either pre-input text, title text from RSS feed or tweet from Twitter.

Playlist Editor and Player The iPad version includes both playlist editor and player. The Playlist Editor allows user to choose specific layout; to insert images and videos from either iPad's photo album, Dropbox's folder or hyperlink to external resources; to set text ticker with static text or RSS feed or tweets from Twitter. The Player displays the selected playlist on iPad's screen or on an external screen with Apple's AV adapter (iPad2 and the new iPad can also use Apple TV for external screen output).

Digital Signage Player The Player-only version for external screen is targeted for the inexpensive iPod touch (4th Generation). Of course, it can also be run on iPhone4/4S and iPad1/2/new. With the Apple Digital AV Adapter, the resolution can goes up to 720p (1080p for iPhone4S, iPad2 and the new iPad). Without the playlist editor, the player version imports playlists created by the iPad version thru Dropbox or FTP server, it also includes scheduled update for default playlist from one of these servers.

Remote Playlist Selection

Both iPad version and Player-only version already included a tiny web server to provide remote playlist selection using web browser. The selection web page is Bonjour compatible. That means, on the same network, a Bonjour compliant web browser or application can easily discover the device without knowing the device's IP address.
